TIPSY TOW AND AAA OFFER ALTERNATIVE TO DUI

NEWS from AAA Oklahoma, March 14 – St. Patrick’s Day revelers who revel too much can avoid making a potentially deadly decision to drive while intoxicated by using AAA’s Tipsy Tow.

AAA Oklahoma is offering free tows over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday to keep drunk drivers off the streets. Tipsy Tow starts at noon, March 17, St. Patty’s Day, and runs until 6 a.m. March 18.

Callers simply dial (800) 222-4357 and tell the AAA dispatcher they need Tipsy Tow. The program is being provided as a community service in metro Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Lawton, Bartlesville, Enid, Shawnee, Muskogee and Ardmore.

“We know people will be partying over St. Patty’s Day,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. “If they choose Tipsy Tow, they get home safely and so does their vehicle. And that’s an important aspect of Tipsy Tow – the only place we’ll take you is home.”

AAA will give the motorist and up to one more person – and their vehicle – a free ride home within a 15-mile radius of point of pickup. Tipsy Tow is open to AAA members and non-members alike.

“The list of holidays over which AAA offers Tipsy Tow in Oklahoma has grown. It now includes Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Year’s, as well as St. Patrick’s Day,” said Mai. “It’s not an inexpensive service to provide but it’s one we feel is worth it to help promote safety on the road.”

AAA is also providing Tipsy Tow in Tulsa for NCAA Tournament fans starting at noon, March 17, and running until 10 p.m., March 20.
