Score a Touchdown this Super Bowl Sunday with Tipsy Tow
NEWS from AAA Oklahoma, Feb. 2, 2012 –Whether you’re a Pats fan or rooting for Big Blue, AAA Oklahoma wants to make sure you don’t get a penalty for drinking and driving this Super Bowl Sunday. To help keep fans safe, AAA is offering its Tipsy Tow service for football fans that may be a little “blitzed” from celebrating during the big game. Service starts at 4p.m. this Sunday, Feb. 5 and runs through 2 a.m. Monday, Feb.6.
“If football fans celebrate the game by consuming alcohol this Sunday, we urge them to play offense by having a game plan for getting home safely,” said Chuck Mai, AAA Oklahoma spokesman. “Tipsy Tow is a great way to run interference on drunk driving.”
To take advantage of AAA’s Tipsy Tow,drivers, passengers, party hosts, bartenders and/or restaurant managers should:
- Call AAA toll-free at 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357) anytime between 4 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb 5, and 2 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6.
- State they need a “Tipsy Tow.”
Tipsy Tow will be available in metro Oklahoma City and Tulsa as well as in Lawton, Muskogee, Bartlesville, Shawnee and Enid. The free community service provides a one-way ride for the driver, one passenger and their vehicle at no cost for up to 15 miles. Services will be provided to motorists whether they are AAA members or not – but the auto club will just take drivers and cars one place: home.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, one alcohol-impaired death occurs every 45 minutes across the country, with alcohol-impaired drivers contributing to one out of every three traffic deaths.
“AAA estimates that a first-time DUI conviction can cost a motorist more than $10,000 in fines, penalties, legal fees and increased insurance costs,” said Mai. “We sincerely hope motorists will choose to not roll the dice and climb behind the wheel when they know they shouldn’t. Tipsy Tow is free, easy and confidential.” |
