AAA Oklahoma breaks down gas prices, number of travelers, mode of transportation and other statistics this year compared to July 4, 2010.
NEWS from AAA Oklahoma, June 30 – Here are AAA’s numbers for travel over the Independence Day holiday weekend compared to one year ago.
- Oklahoma gasoline price average – up $.74 from June 30, 2010 to $3.39 today (June 30, 2011)
- U.S. gasoline price average – up $.78 from June 30, 2010 to $3.54 today (June 30, 2011)
- Oklahoma auto travelers – down 2.6% to 460,300
- Oklahoma air travelers – up 10% to 62,500
- Total Oklahoma travelers (all modes) – down 2% to 530,000
- U.S. auto travelers – down 3% to 32.8 million
- U.S. air travelers – up 9% to 3.02 million
- Total U.S. travelers (all modes) – down 2.5% to 39 million
- Expected distance traveled (national average) – down 7% to 573 miles
- Expected amount spent on trip (national average) – up 25% to $807
- Lowest round-trip airfares (national average) – up 11% to $213
- Average room rate at AAA-rated Three Diamond hotels/motels
(nationwide) – up 3% to $147 per night
- Average room rate at AAA-rated Two Diamond hotels/motels
(nationwide) – up 8% to $110 per night
- Weekend daily car rental rates (national average) – up $3 to $56.
